I thought it would be cool to do a blues / country song and make it about Cranky and Pinkie's meeting up. I know a lot of people give Pinkie crap for her tenacity in that episode and initially upsetting him as much helping him. I think its important to remember just how beaten down his character was when he arrived and how she brought some new found joy back to his life. Anyway i really identify with some of the themes with this one so it was fun writing the lyrics. More importantly doing a duet with Sylverlining was wonderful as she's just so talented and having a youthful and fresh approach to music has made me a little less cranky and withered myself.
